Is It Possible? Can it be done in my home? On my floor? Upstairs aswell?
These are common questions, and the answer is yes, there is a suitable and possible outcome to achieve a wetroom in your home, be it a concrete or woodern floor, upstairs or downstairs. This is a small guide on how it is done, and how that wet room becomes a possiblity.
Wetroom floor in existing concrete floor
This is normally a typical downstairs environment in a house without a suspended woodern ground floor. Click on each photo to enlarge and for a description.
Wetroom in a Upper timber floor
This is what you would have in your normal uk home in the upstairs bathroom. A timber woodern floor boarded room. This isnt a problem and alot of plumbers will shy away due to lack of knowledge and skills. With the right installation, and products a safe, water tight useable room can be fitted.
Sometimes it has to be raised
As we are fitting these, after the property has been built, we are limited to waste positions. Where possible we will always try and get the wet decks on the floor, however limitations in existing waste positions in concrete floors, the way your floor joists may run, trap positions on the tray all dictate the result. If it is not possible to get it flat it would have to be built up on a plinth normally at a height of about 10cm, yet you still get tiled floor and full tiled look to the room and still allows things like underfloor heating to be fitted in your showering environment.
Other wetroom pictures
Other ideas such as building a studwall inside an bathroom to create a seperate enclosed shower area and also a complete wet room floor in a cloakroom where traditionally you can only fit a basin and toilet due to window and door positions.
So you don't want a full Wetroom
If you like the idea of a full wetroom, but still a little unsure, then we can still fit a large walk in shower. There are many on the market which are designed to replace a bath, or some of a unique size, which will give you a large walk in shower area but with a pre-formed acrlic shower tray. We supply our own bathroom furniture
Once you have the perfect wet room shower area. Don't forget about storage and the rest of the room. We get our own fitted furniture made for bathroom use. They come in modern high gloss colours or traditional wood trim. There will be a colour to suit your new wetroom style. This way you get some great useful storage areas, but also adds to the clean look of the room by hiding cisterns, but still complete access for servicing conceals potential nasty looking visable pipework. So not only are they stylish but also pratical! Here are just a few examples, click on the picture for information and larger picture.
